The Fido Pro Airlift dog rescue harness is a must if you are hiking with your four legged friend.
Even if you are a short distance from civilisation.
I spend a lot of my time and adventures with my dog Marley.
She is a Springerdor and has all the bad things of both breeds.
Marley will walk and walk she can easily do 30km a day through varying terrain.
One of the issues I have is i’ve never been able to train her not to chase certain animals i.e. Sheep.
When i’m up in the Lake District I have to keep her on a retractable lead other wise she is off.
I don’t believe she would hurt them, she just loves the chase but I can’t take the chance.
This can be a problem, if im having to scale down rocks or walking a difficult route.
Sometimes she is nearly pulling me down as she has a habit of walking at the end of the lead (no matter how long it is!).
I remember once the route was so difficult that I had to let her off and she ran off chasing sheep to come back with one of her dew claws hanging off.
This made me think that I wasn’t really carrying equipment to help her if she would become lame.
Fido Pro was created by a dog lover for dog lovers, the Airlift was designed only after the founder, Paul Hoskinson, and his dog, Remi, experienced their own traumatic, close call in the backcountry in Colorado, USA.
It was from this event with his own dog Remi that had to be carried back to the car in a rucksack. It was here that the Airlift Rescue Harness was born.
The Airlift is a lightweight, packable harness to safely carry your dog if they become injured or sick while you’re hiking, snowshoeing or skiing.
It is a really simple harness to use.
Prepare your dog first.
I wouldn’t recommend putting it in your pack and using it in an emergency situation without getting your dog used to it previously.
In the unfortunate situation when your dog becomes injured: the last thing you want is to stress it more by trying to get it into a harness that it has never used before.
What we done is take a big bag of treats into the forest for a walk.
We played a game of getting into the harness, walking a little then getting out of the harness.
We played this over and over.
The harness itself is small enough to fit into you dogs panier or into your rucksack.
The Harness.
It is lightweight (0.24 k.g – 0.3 kg. depending on Airlift size).
It comes in 3 different sizes (depending on the size of your dog).
Fido Pro’s products are available to the States, Australia / New Zealand and Europe.
