The Tentbox Cargo 2.0 is pretty much perfect for a quick pitch, durable roof tent, and with all the new upgrades I think this is one of the best durable and user friendly roof tents on the market.
I’ve had the Tentbox Cargo for 2 years now and over those 2 years I’ve thought about how this roof tent could be made better and Tentbox have pulled it out of the bag.
For me, the main issue with the Tentbox Cargo 1.0 was the rain ingress if you are using the side doors to get in and out of the tent. Yes there’s a rain fly at the back but with my setup I couldn’t use the rear door.
The Tentbox Cargo 1.0 is a brilliant roof tent and I’ve had some great adventures with it but there has always been improvements and Tentbox have pulled it out of the bag with the 2.0
The Tentbox Cargo 2.0 was recently released at the Caravan and Camping show and has had a lot of interest.
The new and improved Cargo 2.0 is built from a tough aluminium exoskeleton, the same as the Cargo 1.0 It’s the easiest and quickest TentBox to open, taking half a minute and it can be closed with just one hand.
What’s the Cargo 2.0 made of?
The materials have had a serious upgrade: The tent fabric is 280gsm rip-stop polyester canvas, with a 3000mm hydrostatic head rating.
C6 DWR (water-repellency), 2400mm/24hr breathability and UV50+ protection.
New features.
- Removable rear porch made from 210D polyester, with a 5000mm hydrostatic head rating with a see through skylight.
- Additional window above the rear door.
- Integrated storage bag for the porch poles inside.
- Dual layer mattress.
- Improved storage internally: no more cargo net, now you’ve got really well thought out storage inside including a removable magnetic light bar.
The Tentbox Living Pod for the Cargo ver 2.0
Now, this is what was missing on the Cargo 1.0 Something to stop the rain ingress on the sides.
The Living Pod attaches to the side of the cargo.
As the living pod attaches over the ladder you still have the possibility of attaching the awning to the other side of your cargo and if you want more room you can attach the awning room underneath.
Quickly create an area on the side of your Cargo 2.0 that you can access the tent without your bedding getting wet. Or create a shaded area when the sun’s out and initiate ‘wing-mode’ to enjoy a larger sheltered area.
This design covers the ladder to fully incorporate your living and sleeping area.
Perfect I think, now the only issue is that the living pod is only available for the Cargo 2.0 Us with the Cargo 1.0 will have to either upgrade or make do. Hopefully Tentbox will develop a awning for the Cargo 1.0
Price of the Cargo 2.0
Prior to the release of the Tentbox Cargo 2.0 Version one was reduced in price so there are some good deals currently for the 1st version.
The Cargo 1.0 is retailing on the Tentbox website at £2350 whilst the Tentbox Cargo 2.0 is retailing at £2595
Finance is available on all the Tentbox roof tent and DON’T FORGET THE £50 DISCOUNT CODE.
All in all Tentbox have basically taken all the feedback on-board and made the Cargo 2.0 perfect. Now do I sell the Cargo 1.0 and buy this one or just carry on. Don’t get me wrong the 1st version is great and I love it I just want some cover when accessing the sides.
