First time out with the X5 Max combination travel fishing rod by Rigged and Ready.
The X5 max is a really great travel fishing rod, suited for heavier styles of fishing. The X5 max gives you 9 Super Compact Rod Combinations with rod lengths from 2.75m, 2.50m & 2.30m.
With the ability to configure the butt sections in many different configurations and the four different interchangeable tips the X5 Max allows you to fish a multitude of styles.
You can basically cover every style of fishing whether freshwater or saltwater.
Portable and light.
The X5 Max in the strong durable carry tube only weighs 871g.
The carry case itself is strong, durable and measures 43cm long so can be packed into hand luggage or strapped to a hiking bag / bike.
Casting Weights.
The X5 Max provides a light portable fishing rod with 4 tips producing rod casting weights of 10-20g 15-30g, 25-50g.
Rods weigh between 268g and 223g depending on the set up for spin fishing, bait casting, bait fishing, float fishing, carp fishing, jigging, sea fishing and fly fishing.
The X5 Max travel fishing rod by Rigged and Ready has 4 interchangeable tips for coarse, game and shore fishing.
The 4 interchangeable main butt sections of the rod are all screw in.
The butt section of the Rigged and Ready X5 Max is the same screw in design as the new improved X5 adventure
Test Session of the X5 Max fishing rod.
Conditions weren’t great. After 3 / 4 weeks of really heavy rain and a recent fall of snow the bank was really muddy. The river Waveney was full of colour and moving really quickly.
This part of the river is tidal and that along with all of the water run of the fields into the river the flow was fairly strong.
I had setup up next to a bend in the river which eased the flow a little and initial plan was to deadbait.
Setup.
Setting up the X5 Max with Configuration 1 I had decided to ledger a Roach deadbait.
The reel is used was the XPR 6000 bait runner reel supplied by Rigged and Ready. It wasn’t long before the bait was sitting on the bottom close to a fallen Willow branch.
The wind was howling across the fields and it wasn’t long before camera gear started falling over in the mud.
I decided to change tactics (was not going to blank this day) and headed back into town to have dog at ned rig fishing for perch.
Time to change the configuration of the X5 Max travel fishing rod by Rigged and Ready for lure fishing. Using configration 3, I removed section 2 giving a shorter handle which is perfect for lure fishing.
Removing the tip section I went to the medium weight spin / bait tip.
Since then I fished this method with the lighter tip (the quiver tip) ned rig fishing and was a better setup.
The X5 Max travel fishing rod is a beast of a rod for this type of lightweight lure fishing.
The smuggler style with the quiver tip is much more suited for this. But the main thing is I caught a few and didn’t blank.
So if you want a rod that you can pretty much do any style of fishing with from mackerel feathering of the rocks to fly then the X5 Max is for you.
Configurations of the X5 Max fishing rod.
If you are looking for a light travel rod & reel combo then perhaps the X5 Adventure is more suited. The X5 Adventure is a full combo where the rod, fixed spool reel and fly reel are housed in a great travel case.
2 year guarantee.
Things happen, car doors attack fishing rods, trees seek to catch rods in their branches.
Having a 2 YEAR GUARANTEE where a replacement or your money back will keep you fishing.
