The Anfibio Buoy Boy packrafting flotation device to me is a for calm water paddling. Especially if you want to keep weight and space down whilst hiking.
With packrafting, especially if you’re spending a good amount of time hiking or bikerafting, it’s all about limiting weight. Saving space to keep your gear bags as small as possible is also a consideration.
The problem that comes with saving weight / saving space is it completely goes against the safety aspect of a flotation device.
The Anfibio Buoy Boy is a inflatable flotation device only. Buoyancy cannot be guaranteed in case of damage to the device.
The Anfibio Buoy Boy Packrafting Flotation Device is a inflatable vest that has been designed specifically for the space and weight conscious packrafter.
Weighing just 340g (S/M) and rolling up to just a litre in volume.
It is one of the most compact floatation aids around. It was developed for combined land-water tours to ensure high buoyancy and comfort.
The vest features two chambers inflated by easy-to-use spring-loaded mouth valves; which can be accessed while worn.
The inflated chambers reach around the upper back while the lower back is composed sandwich mesh. Which doesn’t get in the way when packrafting like some PFD’s do that aren’t specifically made for packrafting.
The jacket zips up at the front and backed up by a waist clip. It also benefits from a crotch strap (with is removable) which stops the jacket riding up.
The Buoy Boy’s design gives really good freedom of movement whilst paddling and swimming (in case you take a plunge).
The colours are clearly visible in natural surroundings.
Practical features such as the two large, spacious mesh pockets additionally simplify handling, (personally I would have preferred these pockets to have closable flap).
